What is Fucoidan ?

Fucoidan’ is a type of water-soluble dietary fiber with a unique slippery component found only in brown algae such as kelp, seaweed (mekabu) and mozuku among seaweeds. Chemically, it is a high-molecular polysaccharide that mainly takes the course after sulfation. In addition to fucose, galactose, mannose, xylose, and uronic acid are combined. The name ‘fucoidan’ is not attached to substances with the same structure, but is used as a generic term for high molecular weight polysaccharides whose main component is fucose.

Currently, research on 'Fucoidan' is being actively conducted, and it is found that it has various physiological functions such as anticancer activity, cholesterol lowering action, blood pressure lowering action, and antiviral action.
